True Path
The religious belief that there are only two deific entities, the All-Being and the Tormentor.
The One True Religion
When the angel Arendell arrived through a gate on the material plane, he appeared before an outcast gnome by the name of Teparnanngolf Runsitowilden. It is up for debate what was said between the two but days later the lands of Geldannor seemed set upon by devils as he appeared in town after town wielding a silver sword, slaying high ranking officials whom he claimed had made pacts with the fiends or were devils themselves in gnome form. He proclaimed that the old gods were false and that the one true god, the All-Being, had chosen him to spread his word and strike down the followers of all evil, the Tormentor.
The priests of the Tara Pantheon and many others rallied against his "madness" but nothing could stop him and Teparnanngolf seemed to indeed be guided by a divine hand. When celestial creatures began to appear it only bolstered the followers of what he called the True Path. His campaign across the country continued until he came upon a horned human woman who called him by name and upon her touch vanished from the land with the gnome.
Some call him a hero who showed the land of Geldannor the light of the All-Being while others say he was a servant of the Tormentor who opened the flood gates for the fiends. However, no one can deny he was a prophet of the True Path whose simple teachings spread like wild fire encompassing Geldannor and pushing all other beliefs into almost non-existence.
Followers of other faiths are viewed as heretics and sacrificed in the name of either the All-Being or the Tormentor. Inquisitors fight the enemies of their worship and scour the land for heretics. Followers of the True Path do not receive divine magic in the form of spells. This has led to divine magic being seen as heretical as well, partly in fear of the power it holds in comparison to the abilities of the inquisitors.
